Aimee + Matt's Adventure Elopement in the Mourne Mountains
Some love stories take the long road.
For Aimee and Matt, it took almost two decades before life brought them back together. They had been each other's first love as teenagers before life took them in different directions. Years later, they found each other again and knew they were exactly where they were meant to be.
“we waited nearly two decades to find our way back to each other.”
When they started dreaming about their wedding day, they knew they wanted something that felt true to them. No big audience. No pressure. Just the two of them, standing together somewhere that felt unforgettable.
Ireland had always been high on their bucket list, and they both felt drawn to its landscapes. Once the Mourne Mountains came into the conversation, there was no second choice.
Their day began in a cosy mountain cottage tucked away in the heart of the Mournes. The afternoon was slow and relaxed as they helped each other get ready, shared quiet moments and took time to handwrite their vows before seeing each other for the first time.
Aimee wore a beautiful handmade dress by Caribis Wedding. Its soft flowing design suited the relaxed atmosphere perfectly and looked incredible against the rugged backdrop of the Mourne Mountains.
With the garden surrounding the cottage as their backdrop, they exchanged personal vows with nobody else around. Just the sound of nature and the promises they had waited years to say.
As the evening light softened, we explored around the cottage before making our way higher into the Mourne Mountains. A short walk brought us to one of my favourite viewpoints just in time for golden hour.
The mountains put on an incredible show as the sun slowly disappeared behind the peaks. As daylight faded, we finished the adventure with lanterns during blue hour, creating a peaceful ending to a day that was completely about the two of them.
It was simple, relaxed and full of meaning. Exactly how an adventure elopement should feel.
kind words from aimee + matt
We spent six hours together and it felt so natural and fun. There was no pressure, Johnny fitted seamlessly into the day and we felt like we could enjoy each other without even realising there was a camera there.
When we received the full gallery, we were blown away. There were so many incredible photos and we were giddy looking through them and reliving the day.
