Booking Your Dream Location: Why Weekday Elopements Have an Advantage

When deciding whether to elope on a weekday or weekend, there are several things to consider. One of the main benefits of eloping on a weekday is the increased level of privacy. On weekdays, there are typically fewer people around, which can create a more intimate and secluded atmosphere for your special day.

Another advantage of eloping on a weekday is the ease of booking a ceremony location. Many popular locations for elopements, such as private lands or historic sites, require reservations. These reservations are often easier to secure during the weekdays when there is less demand.

Additionally, eloping on a weekday allows couples to enjoy local tourist activities on the weekend. If you choose to elope midweek, you'll have the opportunity to explore popular locations, get to know the locals, and enjoy the local bars and restaurants on the weekend.

Lastly, more vendors may be available for your elopement if you choose to elope on a weekday. Many vendors, such as caterers, makeup artists, and florists, are often booked for weddings that take place in venues on the weekends. But they may be more available to work with you during the weekdays.

ireland elopements laws

If you want to get legally married in Ireland, whether it be through a religious or civil ceremony, you must make sure that the ceremony is performed by a registered solemnizer or a humanist. The ceremony can only take place at a location with a postal address or an identifiable landmark that is open to the public. It cannot be held in a random field or on private property.

You will also need two people who are over 18 years old to be your witnesses. For example, your photographer can be one witness and your videographer can be the other witness. However, this is only if you are eloping without any guests. You must also give notice of at least 3 months before the ceremony and apply for a marriage visa.

If you are getting married in Northern Ireland, the ceremony must be performed by an officiant, humanist celebrant, or register for secular weddings. Just like in the Republic of Ireland, you will need two witnesses over 18 years old. You must give notice of your marriage within 12 months of your elopement and a minimum of 28 days before the ceremony to apply for a UK marriage visa.

Alternatively, you can choose to do the legal paperwork in your home country and then have the ceremony in Ireland. This is a popular choice among couples as it allows them to have more options for their ceremony location and to bring along a friend or family member to officiate.
